Articles in FPS Magazine

Author: Gecko

Much material on Xtreme3D 2.0 can be found in earlier issues of our FPS Magazine. In particular, FPS issue 1 (2008) contains an introductory article on the engine. FPS issues 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (2008) contain a large series of tutorials on creating a third-person game with character animation and collision checking against a level map. FPS issue 6 (2008) also contains tutorials on using the ODE physics engine in Xtreme3D and on creating a realistic water effect with waves and dynamic reflections. FPS issue 7 (2009) contains an article comparing the capabilities of Xtreme3D and Ultimate3D. For your convenience, all these lessons will gradually be published here as separate txt or PDF documents.

These tutorials were originally published on the now-defunct Xtreme3D wiki at www.bahmi.com. This pack contains five tutorials on Xtreme3D 2.0, covering rendering to textures, bump mapping, SMD loading, raycasting, and animated textures. We've copied the texts as is, with virtually no edits or modifications, formatting them into simple HTML pages. The illustrations are also preserved.
